A weekend in Cape Town

You may have noticed that the African continent is not so well represented on the.ego.tripper. Why? Well, just because I haven’t been there that often. Why? Well, because, you know, I don’t know, maybe because the initial bucket list consisted of mostly American and Asian countries. Why? Well, it’s hard to explain why you put certain things on bucket lists, isn’t it? Why? Well, shut up now, don’t act so childish!

A bucket list is all about preferences. And one of my preferences was South-Africa. Don’t ask why, it just was. Or still is actually. So when I got invited to go there for free last year and when they told me I could bring three friends along, for a party weekend with J&B in Cape Town, I was thrilled. Party in Cape Town, just for a couple of days, eleven hours on the plane, party and do some sightseeing, eleven hours on the plane again. I don’t have to tell you how exhausted I was when I got back home. But it was worth it. We got to party in Castle of Good Hope, one of the oldest surviving colonial buildings in South-Africa. And we got to see a very interesting city. Honestly, from some angles, Cape Town is the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see. Of course it can’t all be pretty, can it now? I’d say Cape Town makes for a very interesting city trip. But no one from Belgium is stupid enough to go to Cape Town on a city trip. You combine it with South-Africa’s other gems, such as… Well, I didn’t see any other gems, except for the wine country, which was pretty cool. But I can imagine there being national parks with elephants, lions, kudus, jaguars (the beast, not the car), rhinoceroses (is this really a word or are you pulling my finger, English language?) and hippopotamuses (same remark here). And they have nice people with funny accents in English and Dutch. Not convinced yet? Look at these (party) pics!

the.ego.tripper is a huge fan of author boxes with useless info, tourist traps, family resorts with kids peeing in the pool, airport hotels, expensive wifi, jetlags, lost luggage, warm beer and airline food. Basically all the good things in life! To nicely fill this author box I will now talk gibberish in Latin: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
